Salute To Business is the Regional Chamber's annual kickoff of the holiday weekend, and we're looking forward to honoring eight deserving individuals with six awards and hearing a keynote presentation from a group of panelists on repopulation efforts.   


Last year, the Regional Chamber and its partners announced a repopulation effort to meet the demands of our Valley's employers and fill thousands of available positions. As we expect the projected new job creation to be at a sustained level that is far greater than our historic annual growth—and to meet the needs of our employers—we have to grow our population.  

We are pleased to bring a keynote panel discussion to Salute To Business that will focus on the philosophies, successes, needs and hurdles of the Valley’s efforts to grow the population. Experts who will participate in that discussion include Lee Williams, chief program officer with Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services and Dr. Brian Corbin, executive vice president of Catholic Charities, with additional panelists to be announced.

In addition to our panel presentation, the Regional Chamber will honor five deserving business leaders with its annual Salute Awards, and we will give special recognition to Valley native John Zabrucky. John, who was born in Warren, is a renowned prop designer, as well as founder of Modern Props, Inc. Through this prop design and rental company, John has created props for many science fiction movie greats, including Ghostbusters, RoboCop, Star Trek, X-Men and so much more. 


As is tradition, we are honored to welcome Youngstown State University Head Football Coach Doug Phillips to preview the upcoming season, which starts that evening, as the Penguins play at home against the Valparaiso Crusaders. The Canfield Fair Board will also tell us about the 177th Fair—the largest county fair in Ohio, which opens on Aug. 30th.
