Lunch & Learn Series: Crime and Its Impact on Economic Development and Our Economy

Tuesday, October 19, 2021 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

The presence of criminal activity in a community has an impact on any business's decision-making process, whether related to the company's physical location, their workforce or potential future investment. During this Lunch & Learn, moderator Shea MacMillan, Director of Economic Development Projects at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, will lead a panel discussion on the impact of crime on the economy and the solutions that some of the panelists are working on to change the dynamic.

Panelists include:

  • Don Thomas, President, Platz Realty Group, commercial real estate specialists serving the tri-county area.
  • Dionne Dowdy, Executive Director of United Returning Citizens, which provides job search and training, life and financial literacy skills and transitional and stable housing primarily for citizens reentering society from correctional facilities.
  • Judge Theresa Dellick, Mahoning County Juvenile Court, whose administration of the Court has been directed to balanced and restorative justice with focused attention to youth accountability and responsibility, public safety and restoration of victims’ rights.
  • Youngstown Police Chief Carl Davis, a 34-year veteran of the Youngstown Police Department who was appointed chief in January.
  • And, more to come.
